Adventure is out there!

Froggy hat!
This was taken by Caesar....looking at her daddy like he's crazy.
And, Cupcakes! 95 mini ones to be exact. (and delicious.) We had a family gathering with both our families on Saturday so people could see Evie and we could celebrate Josh's graduation. (He actually graduates this weekend, so I'm sure I'll have pictures of that next week.)
Uncle Julio, Uncle Marco, Uncle Gustavo, Uncle Josh.
Aunt Megan and Aunt Chantelle.
Spacing out at the leaves with Grandma and Granddad.
Ok, I know this looks like she is grumpy, but I discovered that she loves to lay in the hammock with me. There's leaves above it that she likes to look at and she keeps falling asleep while we are out there. In case anyone wonders, it's quite tricky to get her inside still sleeping when she does that. Basically we should just stay in the hammock.

My friend Lauren is home visiting, (Insert joke about The Laurens, Lauren squared, etc. HaHa.) so we went on Evie's first adventure to the beach. It was wonderfully foggy and drizzly so we couldn't stay long, but that's just as well cause Evie just wanted to sleep. We had fun anyway walking around and taking pictures. Hopefully next time it will be sunny and Evie will be awake.

Until next Monday...

Busy, busy....

If Evie is in a reclined position (like propped on my legs when I'm sitting down), and you get her to grab your thumbs, she pulls herself up to a sitting position. And obviously, she loves it. :)
Hanging out with the tiny cat. (Who doesn't seem quite so tiny next to Evie).
I made these cupcakes the other day. Yellow cake with brown sugar Swiss meringue buttercream. Not that impressive normally, but I did it all with a sleeping baby strapped to my chest. Now I have no excuse not to make goodies all the time! (Right?)
She ALWAYS has her arm up behind her head like this, especially when she is sleeping, which is super cute cause that's how Caesar sleeps too. (With his elbow in my face.) But she keeps pulling her own hair in her sleep and waking herself up! Silly girl...
On Friday my mom's aunt and cousin came to see Evie. So I guess that makes them her great great aunt and her first cousin twice removed. Jeez. I think we will just call them aunties. And my dad got home after a two week business trip and my sister came up for a couple days, so she was giving everybody cuddles.
I SWEAR we did not coordinate our outfits. None of us talked about it or changed or anything. It was just a happy coincidence that made for a great picture.
I love these photos. I'd love to take credit too, but my sister took them.
On Saturday we went to celebrate Caesar's cousin's first communion and we got some photos with Abuelita and Abuelito Delgado.
Then we went and introduced her to the Swansons, whose kids I used to babysit. They're so big now! And Ashley, the oldest, will be one of Evie's babysitters soon, I'm sure. :) Evie did so well....we were out all day and she hardly fussed at all till we got home. Social little girl.
On Sunday we all went to Maker Faire in San Mateo. It was so much fun, but because it was hot and kinda far we left Evie at home with my mom. (And she wore the appropriate onesie for a day with Grandma.) We were gone almost all day and its the longest we have ever been away from her. It was a fun day but I missed my baby. So I got her some goodies. :)
They didn't have this in her size, so she will have to grow into it. There were also some that said Baby Geek and ones with just Baby on them, which is what Caesar wanted to get. "What if she's not a nerd?" he said. And I laughed.
Not a nerd? We also got her these Pacman Ghosts. And we have picture books like "Vader's little Princess", and "Pat the Zombie." Not a nerd? With parents who see every midnight showing of any comic book movie and who recently bought Star Wars episodes IV-VI on BluRay, I think it's a little too late for that.
We also got Cali a bow tie. Bow ties are cool.

Cuddles with Daddy before he goes to work.

We have this little monkey blanket rattle thing and I shake it in front of her and make it kiss her cheeks. And she smiles at it. So precious.

She also has recently started giving herself a little smile when we stand next to a mirror, but that has so far proven impossible to get a picture of. (You try holding a baby and a camera and capturing the perfect smiley, in-focus shot.) Maybe next week.

Lullabies and Butterflies

We gave her a pacifier for the first time this last week....she likes it, but she doesn't have to have it, which is what we were hoping for in waiting till now to give it to her.
And this is why we gave her the pacifier.
These were taken at four in the morning....she makes the lack of sleep worth it. :) That last picture looks like she is laughing but she hasn't quite gotten there yet. Her face is ready, she just isn't making any laugh sounds. She's so close to laughing and I can't wait!
Big Strong girl holding her head up.
Smiling on her changing table. I think that is her favorite place. She almost always starts smiling and talking when we put her there. There are pictures all over the wall to her left and some butterflies on canvas I made behind her head....she particularly loves the butterflies.
I made this tiny house out of clay and seashells. The door opens and closes. I have it on her shelf beneath the globe right now, but I hope when she gets a little older we can have a small potted garden together where we can put tiny houses and things to make cute little scenes. My thumb is not quite green, (it's more that brownish gray color plants turn when they die), so I hope if she starts growing things when she's young she might enjoy it.
Looking out the car window.
Four Generations (and Cali)
Check out all my First Mother's Day goodies! My cousin Chantelle had gifts for me, my sister Megan sent a box for my mom and I, my Grandma got me a sweet card, and Caesar and Evie got a gift. It was such a nice surprise....I think I like Mother's Day ;)

Sometimes I sing to Evie to help her fall asleep if she is a little fussy, and this week we discovered a new favorite song. She likes The Rainbow Connection. I downloaded the Muppets version from iTunes, and sometimes we sing along with Kermit. Very cute when she stops fussing and just listens to the singing while she drifts off to sleep.

Two Months Old

.....oh, Caesar (*shakes head*)
We had a little reunion with some of the people from our birth class...all these adorable girls are March babies. From left to right; Elleanor March 4, Genevieve March 6, Franki March 12, Brynn March 16. They're all so cute! It was so much fun seeing how similar all their little movements and expressions are cause they are all so close in age...maybe they will be friends growing up :)
Day and night she loves her bouncer...the little toy bar lights up and plays surprisingly-not-that-annoying-music. She kicks and waves her arms (hence the blurry photos) and she talks to the lights above her. Adorable. That little red snail toy is her favorite, she's always staring at it.
For some reason this week I have a ton of sleeping pictures....there is something about a sleeping baby that just makes you want to pick her up and cuddle her. Which, of course, wakes her up and that's the end of that.
Oh hey, what's that pile of clothes there? It's ALL THE CLOTHES SHE HAS GROWN OUT OF ALREADY. Not happy. Stop growing, little girl.

Exactly two months ago this little face was almost an hour old. And we thought she was cute THEN. ;) But as much as I want her to stop growing and stay this little, I can't wait to see how she will change even more as she gets older....is it even possible that she will get cuter?
